Just a ‘Bump in the Road’ for Offshore Wind?
The cancellation of two of the biggest offshore wind projects in the east highlights challenges in the fledgling industry and the obstacles to coastal states’ clean energy goals.
JARED BREY / GOVERNING – Three years ago, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy announced plans to build a $250 million offshore wind facility at a marine terminal in Paulsboro, N.J., a small community just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia International Airport. The site was meant to manufacture monopiles, giant steel tubes that form the foundation for offshore wind turbines.
