Hudson County Complete Streets
Safe and sustainable transportation
HCCS is conducting an advocacy and education campaign to raise awareness about the connection between transportation, air quality, and greenhouse gas emissions in Hudson County and to promote safe, clean, and sustainable mobility solutions. The campaign’s objectives include:
- Advocating for bus rapid transit (BRT) on John F. Kennedy Boulevard, a concept reviewed in a North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority study
- Creating an Action Network petition for BRT on John F. Kennedy Boulevard
- Advocating for reallocating funds from the NJ Turnpike Authority’s Newark Bay-Hudson County Extension Improvements project to transit initiatives in Hudson County and beyond
- Securing commitments from local officials for increased and enhanced pedestrian and cycling infrastructure
- Planning bike rides with elected officials and transportation officials to raise awareness of the concerns of those who use bikes, scooters, and other mobility devices
- Analyzing NJ Department of Transportation crash data to create and publish graphs and charts that highlight the issue of traffic violence in Hudson County and beyond
