Affordable green housing

The City of Perth Amboy faces significant challenges in creating and sustaining affordable housing for its most vulnerable and low-income residents. The initiative of the Raritan Bay Area YMCA is to develop permanent affordable housing, employing Energy Star techniques and technologies and Passive House design to create a healthy indoor environment and minimize environmental impacts from the building’s construction, operation, and maintenance. The project will result in the construction of two residential units for low-income families in an overburdened community and, as the first affordable Passive House in Middlesex County, will serve as a model and inspiration for similar projects within the county and state.
