Why Is Sea Level Rising?

Why is sea-level rising? As the planet warms, oceans heat up and expand. Melting glaciers and ice sheets pour even more water into the seas. And in New Jersey, there’s a double whammy: the coastline itself is subsiding, or sinking. Sea level rise here is happening faster than the global average.
