NJ Climate Change Alliance

Welcome to the NJCCA Archive

The New Jersey Climate Change Alliance operated as a statewide network of diverse organizations that shared the goal of advancing science-informed and evidence-based climate change strategies at the state and local levels in New Jersey from 2011 to 2024. With support from Rutgers University, the Alliance’s work has informed seminal outcomes such as the first Science and Technical Report on Sea Level Rise for New Jersey, the first Climate and Health Profile Report for New Jersey, and the first Climate and Health Equity convening in New Jersey, to name a few. This work has helped inform policy and action in the State of New Jersey.

In 2020, the NJ Climate Change Resource Center was established by statute. NJCCRC’s purpose is to carry out collaborative and interdisciplinary research, analysis, and outreach activities to help New Jersey adapt, mitigate, and prepare for climate change. The legislation directs the Center to create and support the use of impartial and actionable science to advance government, public, private, and nongovernmental sector efforts to adapt to and mitigate a changing climate. Further, the Center is directed to facilitate and coordinate among academic institutions and form partnerships with practitioners in key economic sectors.

Given the Center’s mission and that of the Alliance were aligned with respect to impartial analyses related to climate change, the Center had been supporting projects initiated through, as well as informed by, the Alliance. Therefore, in 2024, the leadership of the Alliance and the Center recognized the value in a reorganization that would integrate the consultative role of the Alliance into the Center. As such, the Center has formed an External Advisory Committee. Alliance website content has been migrated here to ensure it is publicly available.
